A Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., famously known as Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana) was born on 17 October 1984, in Accra, Ghana. Shatta Wale’s father’s name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Sr.and his mother’s name is Elsie Evelyn Avemegah.

His father is a politician, businessman, and legal practitioner, while his mother is a businesswoman. Shatta Wale lived with his family in Laterbiokorshie, Dansoman, and later moved to Korle Gonno, where he began developing an interest in music. In an interview sighted by TuneBeatz.com, he mentioned that he had a strong interest in singing and grew up listening to reggae and dancehall, genres he has now successfully mastered.

Education

Shatta Wale attended Seven Great Princes Academy for his basic education in Dansoman, Accra, where he showed an early interest in the arts. He then continued his education at Winneba Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education. He also learned to play the keyboard and received routine vocal training at his school’s music class department.

The Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician Shatta confirmed in an interview that, he is a father of two lovely kids namely Majesty and Cherissa. A lot of people know Majesty because he is often seen on social media but Cherissa is less seen in public/social media. Majesty was born on July 11, 2015, and Cherissa was born on December 18, 2009.

Music Career

In 2004, Shatta Wale gained recognition with his first hit song titled ‘Moko Hoo‘ under his stage name Bandana, which featured fellow Ghanaian musician Tinny. Shatta Wale was then nominated at the “Ghana Music Awards” in 2004 with his hit song ‘Moko Hoo’. He continued to release other hit songs within that year. Shatta has been in the music industry for more than a decade.

Between 2009 and 2012, he rebranded his stage name from Bandana to Shatta Wale. He continued his music career with a focus on dancehall. Within that year, his production was more in Nima, Accra. Although the traffic that year wasn’t good, he continued to produce songs, including “Telephone No,” “Anastasia,” “My Eyes Pon Di Money,” and others.

His biggest hit came in 2014 when he released “Dancehall King”, “Enter the Net”, and “Everybody Like My Tin” which made him go viral. Wale later released “Havanna”, “Shatta City”, and “Wine Ya Waist” featuring Davido in 2015 causing a lot of attention in the music industry and globally.
